2019: Atiku Attacks Buhari For Taking ‘Political Advantage’ Of Blind Man

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, launched a fresh attack on President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing him of trying to take political advantage of a blind Corps member.

This comes after President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, announced his principal’s intention to foot the medicals bills of a 28-year-old blind member of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Okenala Ahmed.

“President Buhari will undertake the cost of medical care and treatment of Ahmed, who is an Economics NYSC teacher at Government Day Senior Secondary School, Daura,” Shehu had said in a statement on Wednesday.

But reacting, however, to the Presidency’s move, Atiku suggested that the President’s gesture toward Ahmed just 5 months to the 2019 presidential election is suspicious.

The former Vice President tweeted Thursday morning, “I commend @NGRPresident @MBuhari for paying medical bills of a blind corps member 5 months to the 2019 election, but I remind him that if he had invested the public funds he spends on his London medicals on public health care, he wouldn’t need to do this.”

Meanwhile, Atiku’s attack on Buhari comes barely 24 hours after the Waziri Adamawa mocked the Presidency for asking Nigerians to re-elect the president in 2019 because he trekked 800 metres from the Eid-praying ground in Daura, Katsina state, to his private residence in the state, hence was fit to run again.

Atiku had tweeted, “I regularly jog more than a mile and exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask Nigerians to vote for me because of that. I want my party – the PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs. I won’t walk to create an illusion.”
