The report for August 29 showed that out of the country’s 53,737 total confirmed cases, unknown exposures comprised 75% (40,140) cases, infections recorded from contact tracing were 12,737 (24%), while cases with travel history accounted for 1% (850).

The NCDC said it confirmed 250 cases in 20 states, 297 discharges in 15 states and zero deaths in the last 24 hours.

Lately, the country had consistently recorded a decline in the daily figures of confirmed coronavirus infections.

THE WHISTLER had reported that the Director-General of the NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu, had attributed the decreased numbers in the past few weeks to the country’s increased testing capacity.
