Abia Judicial Panel Issues Arrest Warrant On Former Accountant-General, Imeoria

The Chairman of Abia State Judicial Panel of inquiry on the recovery of government properties and funds, Justice Florence Doruoha-Igwe (Rtd) has issued a bench warrant on the immediate past Accountant-General of Abia State, Mr Kelechi Imeoria.

The judicial panel which is charged with the responsibilities of recovering government properties and funds revealed that the bench warrant is issued on the ex-accountant general over his failure to produce a black Toyota jeep allegedly given to him by the immediate past governor.

The Toyota Jeep was alleged to have been given to Imeoria by the immediate past governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, through the protocol unit, government house, Umuahia.

Justice Doruoha-Igwe before adjourning the matter to February 9, directed that Mr Imeoria should be arrested and produced alongside the said vehicle for the panel to inspect.

According to Justice Duruoha-Igwe, there was no reason or exemption letter from Mr Imeoria or his counsel, Mrs Esther Wosu, stating that they would not be able to appear before the panel.

It would be recalled that the last appearance of Imeoria before the panel was on January 26,2024.

Recall also that the panel had last month issued a Bench Warrant to Anthony Agbazuere for his failure to appear before the panel.

According to Justice Florence, Agbazuere’s warrant is due to his failure to testify regarding a Toyota Hilux Land Cruiser allegedly in his possession since leaving office.
