ABUJA RALLY: PDP Shelves Event As Buhari Insists On Probing Obasanjo/Atiku Tenure

President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Abuja presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), restated his plans to probe the alleged mismanagement of $16 billion in the power sector under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

At the APC presidential campaign rally that held at the Eagle Square, Abuja, President Buhari said those who spent $16 billion American dollars on power in past administrations will be made to account for each penny if he gets re-elected into office.

Recall that the President made the same statement on Tuesday during the presidential campaign rally of the APC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“The previous government mentioned on their own that they spent 16 billion American dollars for power. But you are better witnesses than myself,” Buhari had said, adding that “Where is the power? Where is the money? We will follow them and eventually God willing we will get them and we will get our money back.”

Buhari’s main challenger in the race, who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was Obsanjo’s vice president from 1999-2007.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the presidential campaign rally of the PDP which was scheduled to hold today at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, has been cancelled.

The Abuja PDP rally did not hold as scheduled and no explanation has been offered for the cancellation.

This is the second time the main opposition party will be shifting the Abuja rally. The party was supposed to hold the Abuja leg of its presidential rallies last Saturday, but the event was postponed on the grounds that the Buhari administration allegedly denied it access to the venue after making payments and getting approval to it.
