After #EndSARS, NANS Begins #EndASUUStrike Hashtag

Amid the success of the #EndSARS hashtag, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Sunday, floated hashtag #EndASUUStrike, in what seemed like its move to compel the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its industrial action.

The #EndSARS had awakened consciousness and pressure leading to the eventual dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

On Sunday, NANS adopted the same concept.

“Next, #EndASUUStrike #EndAsuuStrikeNow”, it tweeted.

ASUU had on March 23, gone on strike over disagreements with the Federal Government bordering largely on funding of universities and the salary payment model for lecturers.

It stressed that it was dissatisfied with the government’s payment platform, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

It had recommended its own payment model known as University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
