After Several Failed Attempts, Barcelona Finally Appoint Xavi As Head Coach

Barcelona have appointed former legendary midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, as head coach following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Koeman’s 14-month reign ended when Rayo Vallecano defeated the club 1:0 on October 27, leading to the appointment of a caretaker coach, Sergi Barjuan.

The Spanish club had made several offers to Hernandez in the past which he turned down over coaching experience.

Barca team secured Al-Sadd approval after agreeing to pay the penalty clause.

Al- Sadd said, “Club administration have approved the transfer of Xavi to Barcelona after the payment of the value of the penalty clause stipulated in his contract.

“Xavi is considered an important part of our history and we wish him every success in the future.”

Xavi left the Catalan club for Al-Sadd in 2015 where he retired four years later and was appointed the Qatar club’s permanent coach.

Xavi 41, has won six trophies for the Qatar-based club.
