Again, Five People Die, Four injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

Less than 30 hours after five people lost their lives in an accident that happened along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, another five died on Thursday on the expressway.

It was gathered that while five lost their lives, four sustained injuries.

The accident happened around the Fidiwo Bridge, near the Ogunmakin area along the expressway at about 2.48 p.m.

It involved a Prome bus and a Toyota Camry car.

The Spokesperson of Ogun State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, attributed the cause of the accident to wrongful overtaking, excessive speed, and tyre bust.

“The command carried out a rescue operation on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around Fidiwo Bridge at about 1448hrs.

“The crash involved 09 persons (06 female adults and 03 male adults) and a total of 04 persons were injured while 05 persons lost their lives from the crash ( 03 female adults and 02 male adults); 02 vehicles were involved with registration numbers MUS191HA a Prime bus red colour and a Toyota Camry car AKD754BG gold colour.

“Probable causes of the crash were wrongful overtaking, overspeeding, and tyre bust which led to the loss of control and veering off the road. The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue Ipara Remo,” Okpe disclosed in a statement.

On Wednesday, THE WHISTLER reported that five people lost their lives while 10 sustained serious injuries in a multiple accident that happened along the expressway.

The accident, which involved two trucks and a bus, occurred around 9:56 a.m.

According to Okpe, the cause of the crash was dangerous driving on the part of one of the trucks.

A total of 15 people were involved in the accident comprising 11 male and four female adults.
