Again, Kidnappers Attack GUO Transport, Abduct Passengers In Ondo

Armed men have reportedly abducted a yet-to-be-ascertained number of passengers travelling on a GUO Transport company.

Videos on the internet showed a gory scene of the driver gruesomely killed by the assailants, while the bus remained empty, leaving only a girl child behind.

Although details of the incident are still sketchy as of press time, THE WHISTLER gathered from staff members of the transport company that the Hiace 14-seater bus was in transit to Abuja from Lagos, when the incident occurred.

The incident is said to have occurred along the Ondo-Kogi lonely expressway, where the Anambra-born driver was killed.

Drivers who travelled along the axis on Saturday told THE WHISTLER that the attacked vehicle had been moved to a police station in the state.

A GUO driver who did not want to be identified also revealed that staff members of the transport company were making efforts to convey the remains of the deceased to his hometown in the Ihiala Local Government of Anambra.

The driver was said to have been attacked “sometime last year, along the same route, but narrowly escaped death after gunshots were fired at his wheel screen,” the driver added.

All efforts to get official details from the GUO transport company failed as phone calls placed to the number listed on its website were not responded to. When our correspondent contacted the GUO WhatsApp representative, all inquiries were read and ignored.

THE WHISTLER also contacted the Spokesperson of the Ondo State command, Funmi Odunlami, via calls and texts. Odunlami acknowledged the part of the text introducing our correspondent but ignored queries about the incident.

The Kogi State Police Command on its part, noted that the incident did not occur within its Area of Concentration.

A week ago, armed men had hijacked an ABC Motors and God is Good Transport Company, en route to Abuja from Abia State.

A total of 14 passengers were abducted and one of the drivers was released.

THE WHISTLER understands that the abductors had demanded a huge ransom for their release.
