Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday cancelled his scheduled visit to Akure, the Ondo State capital, due to poor weather condition.

In a statement by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Osinbajo, the Vice President expressed his apologies to Governor Olusegun Mimiko and the entire Ondo people.

The Vice President’s trip is part of his ongoing dialogue with oil-producing communities, which has seen him visit Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Imo States in the past one month.

Osinbajo was expected to visit the south western state last Friday, but rescheduled the visit for today (Monday), citing poor weather.

His spokesman, Akande, explained that the Acting President was already air-borne on Friday morning when weather reports indicated dusty haze and very poor visibility at the Akure Airport and other alternative airports nearby.

He was expected to commission the International Events Centre, The Dome, the Mega School at Ijapo estate Akure, and also hold a town hall meeting.
