Akon Signs Agreement To Build Own City Complete With Airport, Currency, Solar Power

American-Senegalese singer Akon has finalized an agreements to build his own city that will feature an airport, its own digital cash currency (AKoin) and powered by solar in Senegal.

He tweeted on Monday that he had finalized the agreement for the new city called “Akon City”.

“Looking forward to hosting you there in the future,” his tweet read.

‘I really want to make the biggest impact in Africa’

Akon originally announced plans for the futuristic “Crypto city” in 2018 saying that the city would be built on a 2,000-acre land gifted to him by the President of Senegal, Macky Sall. The new city would also trade exclusively in his own digital cash currency called AKoin, he said.

According to a November 27, 2019 report by The SOURCE, Akon City is expected to be completed in the next ten years.

In a previous interview with Nick Cannon, the Hip-Hop singer said the city will have its own air terminal for residents and tourists to fly in and out. To build the city’s economy Akon plans to use his own cryptocurrency called AKoin.
