Anambra Guber: APC Distances Self From Andy Uba

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra State chapter, Thursday, said it was not in support of the purported plans by its disqualified candidate in the Nov 6 guber election, Andy Uba, to appeal a court ruling that stated that the party had no candidate in the exercise.

THE WHISTLER reported that an Abuja high court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, Monday, ruled that APC did not conduct any primaries, hence Uba would not have emerged as the party’s standard-bearer.

The state publicity secretary of the party, Mr Okelo Madukaife, stated that, “Our great party is compelled to distance itself from willful foray into avoidable contempt of the court by official impersonators who are supposed to be learned men but are led by the nose by a pretender candidate.

“We state for the avoidance of doubt that the APC has not issued any statement against the considered judgment of the Federal High Court 6, Abuja.

“While we grant anyone affected by the judgment the right to notify the public of his, her or their intention to appeal, it should be sufficient for such intention to be registered by the individual or his private assign.”

The statement disassociated itself from an alleged release issued by one Mr Chukwunonso Chinwuba claiming that the party in the state was unhappy about the high court ruling.

Madukaife continued, “We regret that we are at the unfortunate point where our party can be stripped of candidature by a court of competent jurisdiction.

“However sad this may be to us, we are mindful that managing this adversity well will lead to a strong and democratic Anambra APC of the future.”
