Another 10,000 APC Members Dump Party For PDP

Another 10,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly dumped the ruling party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State.

This comes less than a week after about 8, 000 members of the APC defected from the party to the PDP in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.

The new defections reportedly took place in Saghev Guma Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

According to report, the new APC defectors were led to the PDP by the Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Sustainable Development Goals/NEPAD, Dr. Magdalyne Dura.

Their defection followed the recent defection of Governor Ortom from the ruling party to the opposition party.

Speaking on behalf of the new defectors, Dura said, “Let me assure you that Governor Ortom has defected to save us from being killed by herdsmen. He would have kept quiet and be good in the eyes of the presidency but he has chosen to stand with the people of Benue, so we shall also stand with him.”

The defectors were received into the PDP by the Saghev ward Chairman, Hon. Terhemba Shaapera.

Shaapera commended the defectors for making the timely move, saying it would boost efforts by the State Government to end the incessant killing of people in the state that the APC-led Federal Government has allegedly shown little or no commitment to end.
