APC Calls On Ameachi, Sylva To Reconcile, Re-position Party In S’South

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, have been asked to reconcile and re-position the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South region of the country.

The charge was given on Monday by the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, on Monday.

Buni is the Governor of Yobe State.

Buni stated this when he met with the two ministers behind closed doors at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Both Ameachi and Sylva are former governors of Rivers and Bayelsa States respectively.

During the meeting, Buni charged the two ministers to work together and lead the party’s efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and re-position it in the region.

He further charged the duo to play leadership roles by bringing party members and stakeholders together.

He said this was necessary to ensure victory for the party in the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states as well as legislative bye-Elections in Bayelsa and Cross River states.

A statement issued by spokesman of the party, Yekini Nabena, quoted Ameachi as saying: “We have agreed that both of us will work together.”

When it was constituted in June this year, one of the mandates of the caretaker committee was to re-position and reconcile aggrieved members of APC.

The committee was appointed following the leadership crisis that had rocked the party in recent time.
