APC Clears Orji Kalu For Abia Senatorial Primary

The National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has cleared a former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, to contest the party’s Senate primaries.

Kalu will be contesting for Abia north senatorial district APC ticket.

The party had on Tuesday released a list of aspirants cleared for the senatorial primaries, but did not include the ex-Abia governor’s name on the list.

The NWC also cleared four other senatorial aspirants to include, Yusuf Haruna from Kogi State, Kabir Barkiya and Bello Madiya from Katsina State and Yusuf Galambi from Jigawa State.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the former governor of Abia State, Uzor Kalu and Yusuf Haruna to contest the party’s Senate primaries for Abia North and Kogi central senatorial districts respectively,” a statement by APC publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena read.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Katsina aspirants, Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya and Bello Madiya to contest the Party’s primaries.

“A Jigawa State aspirant, Yusuf Shittu Galambi has also been cleared by the Party NWC to contest the Senate primaries in the state,” another statement read.

APC disqualified controversial former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, who is seeking to contest the Jigawa south senatorial district election.

“The National Working Committee (APC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not cleared former Inspector-General of Police, Barr. Suleiman Abba to contest the Party’s Jigawa South Senatorial District Primaries,” Nabena’s statement read.

“Barr. Suleiman Abba’s name was erroneously included in the list of NWC-cleared aspirants,” he added.

APC Senate primaries in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) holds today (Wednesday).
