The leader of the senatorial zone, Yinusa Amobi; Senator representing Osun West, Adelere Oriolowo, member of House of Representatives, Taiwo Oluga; House of Assembly members; Olodo Adebayo, Uzamot Adebayo, Olarewaju Maruf and others unanimously said the governor should continue in office beyond 2022.

The Osun Network For Equity and Social Justice appealed to Oyetola to allow a politician from Osun West Senatorial District to contest the 2022 governorship election in the state.

The group which said this in an advertorial published in a national newspaper said the solicited sacrifice on the part of Oyetola would make Osun West people to love the APC more because they have not produced governor since 1992 when the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke govern the state briefly.

The group said the National Leader.of the party, Asiwaju Bola.Tinubu;Chief Bisi Akande and other leaders of the party should prevail on Oyetola to dump his ambition.

The advertorial read in part, “The call for Governor Gboyega Oyetola to sacrifice his second-term ambition for Osun West Senatorial District in 2022, is not just an ordinary call, but a clarion call which has amongst several advantages, three monumental advantages.”

The APC Senatorial leader in Osun West said, “We, the leaders of Osun APC in the Osun West Senatorial District hereby pass a vote of.confidence on the governor, His Excellency, Mr Gboyega Oyetola for his foresight, exemplary leadership, administrative skills and using this opportunity to completely dissociate ourselves from the submission of Osun Network For Equity and Social Justice published in the Nations newspaper of the 18 days of August 2020.

“I belong to no faction under APC. All my support is for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. please count me out of it and I shall never be part of it. The person that performed below 50 per cent is the only person that is not permitted to go for the second term.

“But our governor has performed excellently despite the prevailing economic situation. I strongly believe that our party throws its weight behind two terms and the governor is qualified to seek re-election and will get it.

“APC is a party where laws are obeyed and I strongly know that our constitution envisages two terms for every executive political office holder. We have the first review also called ‘mid-term review’ which is to examine what each executive has done and Oyetola has done so well in this regard.”
