Arrest DSS DG For Failing To Produce Dasuki, Metuh Urges Court

A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to order the arrest of the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Mr. Lawal Daura, for failing to produce the detained former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, in court.

The court had on October 25, ordered that Dasuki be brought to testify in the ongoing trial of the former PDP media spokesperson.

Justice Okon Abang had also issued a subpoena on former President Goodluck Jonathan to appear in court on Tuesday in respect of the trial.

But in a reaction to the subpoena, the former president asked that he be paid the sum of 1 billion naira to cover his transportation and logistics bill.

The request to arrest the DSS boss came after the prosecutor, Mr Sylvanus Tahir, informed the court that even though the EFCC wrote to the DSS asking it to produce the former National Security Adviser in court, it failed to do so.

Tahir said the legal adviser to the DSS told him that Dasuki refused to come to court on the grounds that his legal team advised him not to do so.

Metuh’s counsel, however, countered the explanation by asking to court to issue a warrant of arrest against the DSS DG because the explanation by Tahir showed that the DSS lacked respect for the court.
