Asset Declaration: FG Amends 16-Count Charge Against Saraki

The Federal Government, on Wednesday, amended the 16-count charge bordering on false asset declaration, leveled against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The trial, which began in September 22, 2015, on a 13-count charge, was later amended on April 28, 2016, with an addition of three charges, making it 16 count.

The prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, who brought a notice of the fresh amendment before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), said the amendment was based on evidence that had already been tendered‎ at the tribunal.

The prosecution counsel, however said‎ more charges were not added, but that the main ones were “simplified” to reflect the evidence that had been tendered.

The trial could not continue owing to the fresh application.
