ASUU Says Senate Not Sensitive To Plight Of Nigerians

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, has accused the Nigerians senate of being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

Ogunyemi, speaking with journalists at the end of ASUU’s National Executive Council meeting at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, warned the lawmakers that Nigerians will soon stone them if care is not taken.

The unions statement follows the alleged plan by the senate to acquire exotic cars for themselves despite the poor economic downturn in the country.

He said, “They move about in armoured cars at a time when those who suffered in the rain and sun to put them in office are languishing in abject poverty.

“They are insensitive to the point that they are telling us they want to buy what they called exotic cars.  It is provocative, and by the time Nigerians become fully conscious, they will be stoned.

“A time will come that the rich would not be able to sleep when the poor are hungry, and that is what the Nigerian ruling class is not recognising.”

Recall that ASUU warned federal Government not to blame its member if it embarks on another strike action, because the federal Government had not shown any sign of commitment in carrying out the 2019 Memorandum of Action.
