Atiku Disagrees With Presidential Tribunal Judgement, Goes To Supreme Court

Following the affirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the February 23, 2019 election by the Presidential Election Tribunal, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday filed an appeal at the Supreme Court.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Buhari the winner of the February 23, 2019 election with 15,191,847 votes while Atiku polled 11,262,978 votes.

Shortly after the Buhari’s victory, Atiku and his party, PDP, challenged the results at the Presidential Election Tribunal.

But the tribunal, in a ruling by Justice Mohammed Garba, dismissed Atiku’s prayers and affirmed Buhari as the winner of the election.

The former vice president and his party are now urging the apex court to overturn the tribunal’s ruling.

Recall that a senior lawyer in Atiku and PDP’s legal team, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had then vowed that they would challenge the ruling.
