Atiku’s Son Remanded In Prison

A magistrate Court Sitting in Lagos state has ordered the remand of Aminu Abubakar, the son of former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku.

He was remanded by Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye over an alleged disobedience of a court order directing him to produce his eight-year-old son, Amir Atiku in court today.

Magistrate Ayeye had on October 11th ordered that Amir Abubakar, who was taken away from his mother, Fatimo Bolori be produced at the first hearing of the case.

However, upon resumption of the case, Aminu’s lawyer informed the magistrate that the parties were making plans to settle the matter out of court.

But counsel to his estranged wife, Ethel Okoh, denied knowledge of an out-of-court settlement.

Describing the respondents action as contempt, Magistrate Ayeye ordered that he should be remanded at the transit cell within the court premises while the case was stood down pending when he could produce the boy in court.

It was learnt that Fatimo and Aminu had divorced in 2011. The children were living with their mother, Fatimo, with an arrangement that they should be allowed to spend their vacation with their father.

However, when the children were on holidays in 2013, Aminu requested that they should be released to him to travel abroad for vacation and thereafter, refused to let them return to their mother.
