Avengers Strike Again, Blow Up Chevron Oil Well “RMP 20”

Despite reports of ongoing negotiations with the Federal government, the Niger Delta Avengers have once again blown up another Chevron oil well, in Warri Delta State, the group announced.

The militant group also dismissed any dialogue with the Federal Government.“At 1:00am today, the @NDAvengers blow up Well RMP 20 belonging to Chevron located 20 meters away from Dibi flow Station in Warri North LGA,” NDA said via its twitter account.

Recall that earlier this week, the minister of state for petroleum resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, assured Nigerians that the government are set to hold talks with the militant group in a bid to wither the continued attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta.

“Probably, we will suspend the operations of the military in the region for a week or two for individuals in the creeks to converge for the dialogue,” Kachikwu said.

He noted that the federal government was determined to restore “genuine peace in the region where oil production has been significantly hurt by the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers”.

“The avenue is open for them, provided the militants are willing to embrace dialogue and allow truce to reign,” he said.

Following this latest attack, it appears the NDA are not ready for any sort of dialogue with the government.
