Benue Governor, Ortom, Tests Positive For COVID-19

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has tested positive for Covid-19.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.

Akase disclosed that Ortom had recently conducted a series of tests with the latest result returning positive.

He said although the governor has not shown any symptoms of the virus,  he has commenced treatment as prescribed by medical personnel.

The statement also advised persons that may have recently come in contact with the governor to go for Covid-19 test as well isolate themselves.

It would be recalled that tests by some of the governor’s close aides in the last few weeks had returned positive.

Akase quoted the governor as saying, “It is equally important that those who came in contact with other persons who have tested positive for the virus should go for a test to ascertain their Covid-19 status.

“Those who have come in contact with him in the last couple of days should go for a test.”

The Governor also urged the people of the state to continue to observe the Covid-19 protocol, for the prevention of the virus.

He particularly emphasised the need for the use of face masks, hand sanitizers, as well as hand washing and physical distancing.

Ortom further enjoined Nigerians to avail themselves for tests in order to contain the spread of the virus.
