Benue: Gunmen Abduct Catholic Priest As Police Begin Investigation

A Catholic Priest in Benue, Reverend Father David Echioda has been abducted by unknown gunmen in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.

Echioda, who is the priest of the Otukpo Catholic Diocese, was said to have been kidnapped along Allan-Akpa Road on Sunday on his way from Utonkon, Ado Local Government where he had gone for a mass.

The Benue State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene confirmed the incident to THE WHISTLER on Tuesday. She however, did not reveal further details of the incident, but said investigation has commenced.

“There is an incident, but it’s being managed. It’s being investigated right now,” Anene said.
