Boko Haram Attacks Zulum’s Convoy Again

Less than two days after a government convoy was ambushed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy was attacked again by the terrorists sect on Sunday morning.

Recall that the insurgents had on Friday, ambushed a government convoy on its way to Baga town in the state, killing 11 security personnel.

However, no life was lost in the latest attack, which occurred, according to Punch at 10:30 am, when the governor’s convoy was returning to Maiduguri, the state capital.

The terrorists carried out the attack about two kilometers away from Baga.

The paper quoted some people on the tour with Zulum as saying the insurgents shot at the convoy.

It said one of the persons on the convoy said: “There was no death recorded this time around except some minor injuries.

“The windscreen of some vehicles were shattered, some vehicles had their tyres busted by gunshots, including the Government House Press Crew bus.

“The military gun truck was also shot at and a soldier had his shoulder scalded with a gunshot.”

Recall that Zulum’s convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists last month on his way to Baga to distribute food to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Speaking with journalists after the attack on him, Zulum had accused the military of being responsible for the attack on his convoy in Baga.

Most residents of Baga town are taking refuge in Monguno and Maiduguri after the town was displaced by Boko Haram insurgents 21 months ago.
