Boniface Igbeneghu: ‘Sex-For-Grades’ UNILAG Lecturer Plans To Give Only Daughter ‘Sound Education’

The lecturer-cum-pastor at the center of a sexual harassment scandal at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Boniface Igbeneghu, plans to give his only daughter “a very sound education in reputable schools”.

Igbeneghu, who is senior pastor at the Foursquare Gospel Church, had no qualms frustrating the education of teenage girls even though he wants quality education for his own daughter.

THE WHISTLER went through archives of Igbeneghu’s social media post and found a July 21, 2013, Facebook post where the lecturer and associate professor spoke passionately about how he valued his only daughter.

“I have only one daughter. I intend to give her a very sound education in reputable schools before giving her hand out in marriage,” he said.

But the randy lecturer finally met his waterloo after a “sex for grades” documentary conducted on tertiary institutions in West Africa by BBC Africa Eye exposed his atrocities on Monday.

BBC’s reporter, Kiki Mordi, had pretended to be seeking admission into UNILAG during the undercover investigation.

During one of her visits to Igbeneghu’s office, the former sub-dean of Faculty of Art in UNILAG, boasted about how he could get any girl he wanted.

“Do you know that I am a pastor and I’m in my fifties. What will shock you is that even at my age now, if I want a girl of your age – a 17-year-old, all I need is to sweet tongue her and put some money in her hand and I’ll get her,” he said.

Igbeneghu was also caught on camera telling the reporter that he and some of his colleagues patronise the UNILAG staff club “cold room” where they meet students to “touch their breasts”.

Meanwhile, in another Facebook post on April 21, 2018,  the lecturer revealed that he was formally inducted as a pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church at the Foursquare Camp, Ajebo, Ogun State, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, by Reverend Felix Meduoye, the General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.

Igbeneghu’s wife had also been inducted as a pastor in the Foursquare Gospel Church on April 20, 2019.

“Fond memories of the Induction Ceremony of my darling wife as a Pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria by the General Overseer, Reverend Felix Meduoye at the Foursquare Camp, Ajebo, Lagos- Ibadan Expressway on April 20, 2019,” he had shared on his Facebook wall.

Igbeneghu’s scandal is coming less than a year after a former lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), professor Richard Akindele, was sentenced to two years in jail for demanding sex from one of his students, Monica Osagie.

Akindele was also handed another 24 months jail-term for soliciting sexual benefit from Osagie to pass her.
