BREAKING: Alex Ekwueme Dies In London Clinic
Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme has died, his family has said.
In a statement signed by Igwe Laz Ekwueme, his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra state, the former VP died at about 10pm on Sunday in a London clinic.
“Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON,” the statement read.
“The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.”
President Muhammadu Buhari had last week ordered that Ekwueme be flown abroad for medical treatment, after he was briefed on Ekwueme’s medical condition.
The former vice-president had been on admission at the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu, after collapsing in his residence.
