Breaking: Many ‘Burnt To Death’ In Tanker Explosion Along Ilesa-Akure Highway

All passengers in an 18-seater bus are feared dead in a multiple accident that occured along the Ilesa-Akure Highway.

Our correspondent gathered that the accident occurred around 11:am on Monday at Erin Ijesa, a town in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The diesel ladden tanker reportedly fell and spilled its content before it caught fire.

The explosion led to gridlock on the road as many motorists got stuck i in the traffic.

Officials of Federal Road Safety Commission were said to have later diverted traffic through Ipetu Ijesa town to ease the gridlock.

Am eyewitness, Peter Omolewa, said, ” Many people were burnt to death and some were injured in the inferno. But I can’t say how many persons involved “

The Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State,Mrs Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the development to journalists but said she could not give the number of casualties yet.
