BREAKING: MTN Group President To Step Down

MTN Group, Africa’s mobile telecommunication giant has announced that the president/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rob Shuter, will step down in March 2021, following the expiration of his contract.

The company disclosed this early hour of Wednesday in Washington DC, where it thanked the CEO for his contribution to the company.

MTN said in a statement that, “the board thanks Rob for the contribution he has made, and continues to make, to MTN. The succession process will be concluded during the year, enabling a seamless handover.”

Similarly, the chief technology and IT officer, Charlsee Molapisi has been appointed as member of the company’s executive committee, while the contract of the chief operation officer, Jens Schulte-Bockum, has been extended to 31 March 2022.

Reacting, Schuter said, “we will use 2020 to implement our succession process and ensure a seamless handover to the new group president/ CEO whist maintaining our operational execution.”

MTN has its strong hold in South Africa and Nigeria, with 251 million total subscribers across countries and an increased data user by 17 million to hit 95 million.
