BREAKING: Police Invite Saraki Over Offa Bank Robbery

The Nigeria Police Force has invited Senate President Bukola Saraki over his alleged involvement in the robbery which recently occurred in Offa, Kwara State.

The police in a statement on Sunday issued by its spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, asked the senate president to report to its Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja.

According to the police statement, the suspects confessed that they were political thugs of the Senate President and the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The suspected robbers were said to have robbed at least five banks during the operation.

They were equally said to have killed at least 9 police officers and over 20 other persons during the attack.

Millions of naira were carted away during the bank robbery.

“The Senate President, Sen. Bukola Saraki is being invited by the Nigeria Police Force to report to the Force Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja to answer to the allegations levelled against him from the confessions of the Five (5) Gang Leaders and some of the other 17 suspects arrested for direct involvement and active participation in the Offa Bank Robbery and the gruesome killing of 33 innocent persons which includes some pregnant women and nine Police personnel,” the police statement read in part.

It will be recalled that in May, Saraki alleged that Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), was planning to set him up by altering statements of suspects that had been arrested for cultism.
