BREAKING: WAEC Issues New ‘Certificate’ To Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been presented with an attestation certificate by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), his media aide, Mr Femi Adesina, has announced.

Adesina made the announcement in a tweet via his verified Twitter account [@FemAdesina] on Friday.

The development comes amidst renewed controversy that trailed Buhari’s failure to submit his senior school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as required ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

Adesina wrote, “WAEC presents attestation certificate and confirmation of school cert result to President Buhari. What will the naysayers say next?”

THE WHISTLER recalls that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had recently challenged the President to write the military to request that his WAEC certificate be sent to INEC since he claimed his certificate was with the Army.

“Integrity demands that you write to military authorities asking them to forward your credentials to INEC. Even @MBuhari followers are not prepared to accept NEPA Bill for WAEC in 2019,” the party had recently tweeted, adding that, “So, Mr President, Wey your certificate?.”

President Buhari had in affidavit he submitted to INEC said, “I am the above-named person and the deponent of this affidavit herein. All my academic qualification documents as filled in my Presidential form, APC/001/2015 are currently with the Secretary of the Military Board as of the time of this affidavit.”

But following criticisms from the opposition PDP and Nigerians on Twitter, the Presidency said last week that the military had admitted misplacing Buhari’s certificate.

“The military already said they lost the certificates. But does it mean that it did not exist that the president went to school, sat for examinations and passed; attended military courses and War College?,” Adesina said in an interview with The Nation.

“It does not change the fact that the president rose through the ranks to become a major-general in the Nigerian army and a military head of state.

“Didn’t those opposed to president Buhari go to court over his certificate and lost before? They will still lose this time around. It is a dead issue,” declared the presidential aide.a
