Buhari Gives Police IG Go-ahead To Arrest Saraki

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly given the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, the go-ahead to arrest Senate President, Bukola Saraki, if found culpable in the investigation of the suspects arrested by the police over the recent Offa bank robbery in Kwara State.

It would be recalled that Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, were accused of having links with some suspects in police custody who were said to be involved in the bank robbery in Offa.

Recall also that Saraki and Governor Ahmed had previously raised the alarm of an alleged plot by the Inspector-General of Police to implicate them by building criminal cases against them using the suspects in police custody.

The Senate President had consequently led some senators to the State House to see President Buhari over the Police IG’s alleged bid to falsify attestations of the suspects to indict him and the governor.

But Premium Times reports today that IGP Idris, during a meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Friday, got the president’s approval to arrest the Senate President if found guilty of the allegations levelled against him by the arrested suspects.

According to the report, the police boss presented investigation documents to President Buhari indicting Mr Saraki of involvement with the suspects.
