The global business newspaper in an article titled ‘Africa looks for something new out of Trump,’ claimed that the US leader warned his aides that he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again.

“The first meeting, with Nigeria’s ailing 75-year-old Muhammadu Buhari in April, ended with the US president telling aides he never wanted to meet someone so lifeless again, according to three people familiar with the matter,” the newspaper claimed.

The paper quoted three sources familiar with the incident, which it claimed occurred at a private meeting on January 12.

Recall that Buhari was in the US for bilateral talks on Trump’s invitation.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the meeting, Trump had praised Buhari for his war against corruption in the country.

“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President has been able to cut that down very substantially,” Trump said.

“We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress.”

The latest report was however published on the same President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya will be at the White House.

Neither the American and Nigerian governments have reacted to the publication as at the time of filing this report.
