Buhari’s ‘Second Wife’ Draws Unprecedented Muslim Faithful To Aso Rock

An unprecedented number of Muslim faithful joined President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Mosque inside the presidential villa, Abuja, for the weekly raka’at prayer on Friday.

Among the hundreds of Muslim faithful that observed the raka’at prayer at the state house were presidential aides, cabinet ministers and former Zamfara state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, among others.

It was gathered that the crowd of worshipers trooped to the state house to observe their prayers due rumours flying around on social media that President Buhari was scheduled to take a “second wife” on Friday.

The social media reports had claimed that the president planned on marrying his newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar farouk, as his second wife.

While Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had dispelled the report, saying the “rumour was a deceptive manoeuvre by those who fabricated the news,” some curious worshipers trooped to the state house mosque to confirm the social media reports.

The reports were obviously false as the alleged new bride of the president took to her twitter (@Sadiya_farouq) on Friday to disown a parody twitter account which reacted in her name to the alleged planned wedding.

“It has come to my attention that a fake Twitter account @Sadiya_farouq_ has been created in my name. I wish to inform my followers and well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the handle and any information posted on it. My official Twitter handle remains @Sadiya_farouq”

The fake twitter account had tweeted: “There have been several speculations in media regarding Marriage between Myself and Baba Buhari.

“I will like to clarify this, that me and Baba Buhari have been old-time friends and Her Excellency Aisha is my good friend and a sister. I will like to maintain this good relationship.

“Dear Nigerians, please Kindly ignore all rumors as this is not true. We’re currently completely focused on making sure we have a better Nigeria. Let’s continue to pray for our dear country Nigeria. God Bless,” the parody account had tweeted.

Meanwhile, an indication that the planned wedding between President Buhari and Sadiya were mere rumours was a photo that the minister shared via her official twitter account on Friday from Switzerland.

The worshipers who trooped to Aso Rock to witness the supposed wedding Fatiha between Buhari and Sadiya may have felt disappointed as they only witnessed  the president exchanging pleasantries with citizens after the prayer session.

Buhari’s rumoured wedding to Sadiya came weeks after First Lady Aisha Buhari was alleged to have moved out of the presidential villa.

A newspaper, not THE WHISTLER, had reported that the First Lady had been away from the country for over two months.

The report quoted unnamed presidential sources as saying Buhari’s wife left the country in protest against “certain developments” at the presidency.
