Canada Invokes U.S Help To Restrict Visa For Nigerians

In a bid to control the influx of Nigerians into its country, the Canadian government has invoked the help of the United States government to slap stringent Visa application procedure on Nigerians who may want to enter its country through the U.S.

The Canadian government believes slapping the stringent visa application process on Nigerians by the United States Embassy in Lagos and Abuja, will help trim down the number of Nigeria’s citizens who troop into the country through the U.S borders.

Per Second New reports that under its new immigration policy, the Canadian government has ceased to recognise claims by asylum seekers who may be hoping to get protection in the country.

Prior to passing into law of the new Canadian immigration policy, asylum seekers whose demands for protection were denied by the U.S government often turn to Canada for refuge.

Meanwhile, reports say at least 20, 000 migrants were intercepted while trying to enter into Canada through the U.S borders in 2017 alone.
