Court Grants Bala Mohammed’s Son N100m Bail

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail in the sum of N100m to Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, a son of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Bala Mohammed Bala.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, at the hearing today, ordered him to provide two sureties to enter into N50m bail bond each, and to remain in custody until he meets the bail conditions.

Shamsudeen was remanded in Kuje Prison on Wednesday after he was arraigned on 15 counts of N1.1bn money laundering offences.

‎He was dragged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for allegedly paying millions of naira on different occasions for the purchase of houses without going through financial institutions, an act which breached the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.

The case was fixed for March 27 and 28 for commencement of trial.
