COVID-19: Niger State Lifts Suspension On Juma’at Prayer

The Niger State government has lifted the suspension on congregational Friday prayer (Juma’at) for Friday, April 17th.

Consequently, the Juma’at prayer is expected to hold between 11am to 3pm under strict observance of all the precautionary measures, using hand sanitizers, face masks, hand washing facilities (soap, and water), maintaining social distancing and avoiding contact base greetings against Coronavirus (COVID-19).

A statement issued on Friday by the Information Officer for Secretary to the state government and chairman, Niger State Task Force on COVID-19, Lawal Tanko, said, the sermon and prayers are to be conducted within thirty minutes.

It noted that Muslims were advised to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures taken by government on the containment of the pandemic in the state.

The lockdown, the statement added, however continues immediately after the prayers.
