COVID-19: Niger State Reports Second Case Of Coronavirus

Niger State has confirmed another case of Coronavirus (COVID-19),bringing the total number of cases to two.

The Niger State Commissioner for Health, Muhammed MakuSidi announced that the second case was a returnee from Lagos State who is a resident of Tegina, Rafi LGA.

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Muawiyyah Yusuf Muye, said the patient was currently in the Quarantine Centre and would be moved to a treatment centre at General Hospital Minna, for treatment.

The state Ministry of Health was working to trace the contacts of both cases, notifying those who may have been exposed and placing them on quarantine for 14 days since their last exposure.

“The state government has continued to advise the citizen to practice good handwashing hygiene, practice social distancing and obey the lockdown restrictions,” the statement said.
