COVID-19: TY Danjuma Supports Widows In Enugu, Donates Palliatives

The Victim Support Fund (VSF), a non-governmental organization founded by General TY Danjuma, has brought smiles to the faces of widows in Enugu State.

The group on Thursday, donated some palliatives to widows and the vulnerable in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the event was organized by the NGO in conjunction with the Enugu State Emergency Palliative Committee.

The items donated included noddles, groundnut oil, salt, and bags of rice, which were distributed to 100 widows and the vulnerable in the area.

The Enugu State deputy governor, Rt Hon Cecilia Ezeilo, who doubles as the chairman of the Enugu State Emergency Palliative Committee, commended the foundation for providing succour to the widows as well as the vulnerable in the area.

Represented by a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Sam Ngene, Hon Ezeilo said Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was passionate about the welfare of the people of the state, especially the suffering masses in the face of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, which had adversely affected the entire facet of society.

According to her, “The Victim Support Fund provided 50 bags of rice while the state government provided additional 50 bags to ensure that the palliatives cover more persons. The gesture of this foundation is the testimony of being your brother’s keeper, which unites Nigeria. The state government, on its part, has through this committee reached out to the people of the state in the provision of palliatives to cushion the effects of the coronavirus. We have gone round the six local governments of the Enugu-East zone while other members of the committee have also visited other zones sharing palliatives to the poorest of the poor and the vulnerable.”

A beneficiary, Mrs Chinasa Eze, thanked the foundation and Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for coming to their assistance. She said, “We pray for the cure for this coronavirus that has caused pains to the whole world. I also thank Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his interventions and proactive steps to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.”

Another widow, May Okeke, said, “These things they gave us today will help me too much. Things are difficult, but by God’s grace, we shall get over it. I know that God Almighty will hear our prayers.”
