Deaths, Injuries As 8-Storey Building Collapses In Imo

Two persons were reported death while many sustained serious injuries after an eight-storey building collapsed in Imo State.

The building , located at Yar’ Adua Drive in Owerri, Imo State, was under construction at the time of the incident on Thursday.

A total of forty workers were said to have been trapped as at the time of the collapse.

However, 15 persons were later rescued with two persons reported dead.

Other survivors were rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries.

According to reports, the pillars holding the building were too feable to carry the structure.

Workers who survived the incident said they noticed cracks on the building and complained to the engineer who failed to act adequately.
