Dino Melaye Rejects PDP Appointment After Calling Kogi Gov Primary Unacceptable

Lawmaker representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye and defeated candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary has rejected an appointment to serve as director-general of the party’s governorship campaign in the state.

The governor made this known via his twitter handle on Friday.

He said, “Let me state categorically that I have turned down the position of Director-General of the PDP Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council. I wish PDP all the best. When truth is a casualty there is chaos.”

Recall that the younger brother of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Musa Wada emerged winner of the party’s governorship primary ahead of the 16th November election.

Wada scored 748 votes, followed by Abubakar Idris with 710 votes, the former governor, Captain Idris Wada came third, while Senator Melaye came fourth.

Melaye, in reaction to his defeat had described the result as “totally unacceptable”

He said, “It is ridiculous to declare a final result of PDP Governorship primary election in Kogi State when my votes sorted out yesterday in 8 out of 10 ballot boxes are missing. Only to declare votes in 2 out of 10 ballot boxes as my votes. Totally unacceptable.”
