Dismissed Female Immigration Employee Arrested For Swindling Job Seekers Out Of N34.8 Million

Hajarat Egbunu, a dismissed employee of the Nigerian Immigration Service described as a notorious fraudster in Katsina State, has been arrested by the police.

The 42-year-old woman was arrested by the state’s police command for allegedly conspiring with one Ibrahim El-Maki, 45, to defraud job seekers to the tune of over 34.8 million.

A statement by the police command narrated how El-Maki had approached one Aminu Hamza, 32, with a proposal for a job vacancy at ECOWAS Headquarters in Abuja and a salary of about N3 million.

“He also informed him that each offer is sold N3.5 million.

“Aminu Hamza informed his friends and they transferred N7 million to Ibrahim El-Maki’s account. This prompted him to send copies of the appointment letters to Aminu Hamza through WhatsApp which were later traced to be fake,” the statement said.

Their fraudulent scheme was, however, brought to the public when their victim didn’t get the proposed job, leading to El-Maki’s arrest.
