Drama As Kogi Gov Reverses Decision Minutes After Sacking Cabinet

Yahaya Bello, Kogi State governor, created confusion in the state on Sunday after reportedly firing members of his cabinet and reversing the decision moments later.

The Punch reports that Bello had approved the sack of his commissioners and the 21 local government administrators in the state, but withdrew the decision about 10 minutes later, asking the affected officials to continue their work.

The decision was made at the state’s Executive Committee Council meeting held on Sunday at the Government House, Lokoja.

The sack of the cabinet members was said to been prompted by the importation scam last Thursday, which left Bello furious with his cabinet members whom he allegedly accused of leaking the information to the media.

Bello was last week accused by Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi west, of illegally importing restricted items into the country.

The Senate ad-hoc committee investigating the matter discovered the imported items which include military camouflage uniforms, boots, night goggles, and bullet proof vests.

However, it was not clear if were indeed imported by the Kogi state governor as claimed by the Senator.

Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed that the governor had reversed his order of dissolution and demanded better performance and better relationship from the sacked officials with the state government.
