Ebonyi Govt Decries Hike In Transport Fares

The Ebonyi State Government has urged residents to report any tricycle operator who hikes fares, despite the hardship caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Stanley Okoro Emegha, disclosed this on Wednesday.

Emegha said that government had observed a hike in transport fare across the state, adding that it would not tolerate the exploitation of residents.

“Government frowns at this negative development and hereby directs the leadership of Tricycle Union in the state to revert to the original fares immediately,” he added.

He also said that residents should continue to pay the original fare and report any defaulting tricyclists to government by texting the registration number of the tricycle for appropriate penalty.
