EFCC Boss Attacked For Wearing Buhari’s Re-election Emblem To Interview
Mr Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has come under intense criticism for wearing an emblem of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid during a Channels TV interview on Tuesday.
Nigerians are attacking Magu for allegedly compromising EFCC’s independence by wearing the lapel pin in conspicuous allegiance to President Buhari’s re-election into office in 2019.
The EFCC boss had appeared on Channels TV’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Tuesday to speak on successes of the anti-corruption agency.
Among notable Nigerians who condemned Magu was a seasoned columnist, Kayode Ogundamisi, who took to Twitter to express his disapproval of the action of the EFCC boss.
Ogundamisi wrote, “EFCC is not the private property of @NGRPresident @MBuhari the head of the agency wearing a Buhari lapel compromises his independence. The loyalty of heads of agencies is to the constitution of Nigeria and the acts establishing them. Magu is bringing EFCC into disrepute”

Some other Nigerians also reacted via Twitter.
It’s simple, the corruption fight is targeted to only Anti_PMB .

I’m sure you saw what happened between the former FBI chiefs and the American President. The moment you become partisan, you automatically become a danger to democracy

This is the reason we have weak institutions in this country. Heads of MDAs openly display their political bias and idolise the President at the expense of constitution.

Haba naa… we are not in doubt where his loyalty rests ,it’s not the lapel that revealed it ,Nigerians have always had the feeling that @officialEFCC and most of the other security agencies do not entirely work for the collective interest of this country #Ramadan @osita_chidoka

Magu ought to know that his loyalty is to the Nigerian state & not to PMB. Wearing the lapel pins of PMB publicly is a complete No-No which puts the @officialEFCC in a bad light as an appendage of PMB & confirms all allegations of selective trials of suspects.

Exactly. Infact he should be relieve of his job immediately. What he displayed this morning is a serious danger to our democracy and the @officialEFCC
— prince ajibade isaac (@omoba_aji) May 15, 2018
Its so unfortunate that we don’t have strong opposition parties that can take PMB and Magu up on this misnomer. We need to get to that stage in our national life where our institutions will be powerful, independent & loyal to the state than the Presidents!
— Mikhail Barnabas (@barnaby04) May 15, 2018
This is Nigeria, where Institutions like @officialEFCC and @cenbank are tied to the apron strings of the executives. There is no independence anywhere.

Ibrahim Magu this morning on a Channels TV programme:
That emblem on his lapel is a Buhari re-election campaign material – and this is supposed to be a public servant of an independent anti-corruption body.
Lat time this happened was under Abacha – and we know how it ended. pic.twitter.com/BhvPTMQBjL

Ibrahim Magu, EFCC Chairman is one of the main campaigners of a 2nd term for Buhari. They said if you want to get any favor from him just say, you will deliver votes for Buhari in 2019
As you can see here, he wears a campaign lapel for Buhari to a TV interview. He’s compromised pic.twitter.com/Rdmsbs7zCj

Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of EFCC; a supposedly independent institution of government, wearing a chest badge of Buhari on Channels TV this morning, typifies the hypocrisy of the Buhari-led administration.
This is unacceptable and unfortunate. pic.twitter.com/VykupiANgk

First, Ibrahim Magu attended at an #IStandWithBuhari rally, now he’s appearing on @channelstv with a re-elect Buhari lapel pin.
And y’all tell me this agency is neutral?

But frankly speaking, we should know the EFFC boss can never be neutral. He was appointed by the President & he will definitely be loyal to him.
Ibrahim Magu is doing just exactly what past anti grant agency bosses did for their principal. So, what’s the cry?— Ayanbisi Temitope. A (@Dr_Aphiz) May 15, 2018
Ibrahim Magu today on channels TV just confirmed what we have been thinking all along. It is now evident that Magu is used by the Buhari led APC govt to haunt the opposition.
So sorry for Dasuki, Metuh & Co.. they will have to spend the rest of this 4yr term with Buhari. Smh
