EFCC Boss Attacked For Wearing Buhari’s Re-election Emblem To Interview

Mr Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has come under intense criticism for wearing an emblem of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid during a Channels TV interview on Tuesday.

Nigerians are attacking Magu for allegedly compromising EFCC’s independence by wearing the lapel pin in conspicuous allegiance to President Buhari’s re-election into office in 2019.

The EFCC boss had appeared on Channels TV’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Tuesday to speak on successes of the anti-corruption agency.

Among notable Nigerians who condemned Magu was a seasoned columnist, Kayode Ogundamisi, who took to Twitter to express his disapproval of the action of the EFCC boss.

Ogundamisi wrote,‏ “EFCC is not the private property of @NGRPresident @MBuhari the head of the agency wearing a Buhari lapel compromises his independence. The loyalty of heads of agencies is to the constitution of Nigeria and the acts establishing them. Magu is bringing EFCC into disrepute”
