EndSARS: Gov Obiano Joins Protesters In Awka, Vows To Ensure Release Of Detainees

Governor Willie Obiano today joined the youths of the state in the protest against police brutalities in Nigeria.

He told the protesters in Awka that he joined them in the struggle because they also defended their votes during the elections that brought him to power.

In his words, “I joined youths of our dear state to say #EndPoliceBrutality, and I support them because they did not only vote and defend their votes in my 21-over-21 victory, but all their requests are genuine and germane; and I oblige to honour them all. I felt honoured being in their midst to share in their feelings.”

He said although the federal government had disbanded SARS, he was determined to personally visit all SARS offices in Anambra State to ensure that anyone being held was released immediately, adding that the former OC SARS in the state, James Nwafor, reportedly appointed his aide after his retirement, had been sacked and would be prosecuted.

He added that, “I’ll ensure that the Presidency does the needful to ensure a better life for our youths, for us, ndi Anambra, and for our nation.”

Some notables that were present when Gov Obiano addressed the protesters include nollywood actor, Zubby Micheal (popularly known as Eze ndi ala); Bob Manuel Udokwu, and Slow Dogg.

THE WHISTLER reported yesterday that youths in the state blocked the Onitsha-Enugu expressway as well as the Government House, Awka, during their protest against the brutalities of the SARS operatives. They also demanded that operatives that killed youths be brought to book; and that the authorities should locate missing youths still in the custody of the disbanded SARS.
