EndSARS: Obiano Donates N8m To Families Of Slain Cops, 13 Patrol Vehicles To Police

The Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, Thursday, presented the sum of N2m each to families of four deceased police officers who were killed during the EndSARS protests in the state. Obiano also gave the sum of N250, 000 each to fifteen officers injured during the crisis, in addition to shouldering their medical expenses.

He made the donation when he paid a visit to the Anambra State Police Command headquarters, Awka, to commiserate with the command over the incident. While commending the command for rising to the occasion, including resuming full operations despite the challenges, Gov Obiano also unveiled the new Rapid Response Squad and donated thirteen vehicles, comprising ten Hilux and three IVM IKENGA vehicles fortified with security gadgets to boost police operations in the state.

He said, “The vehicles should only be used for security patrols and response to distress calls, and not to engage in social services like burials, escort of VIPs, personal guards or traditional marriages”, assuring that the state remained very safe during and after the forthcoming yuletide.

Responding, the commissioner of police, Anambra State, CP John B. Abang, thanked the governor for the visit, and assured him that the command had fully reclaimed the public space in the state, and would sustain the toga of being the ‘safest state in the nation’.
