A young Nigerian man identified as Oke Obi-Enadhuze has reportedly been shot dead by the police in Lagos State.
Oke, a product designer, was reportedly hit by police stray bullet on Wednesday. Details on the circumstances surrounding his death are still sketchy.
The death of the Computer Science graduate from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, came hours after he tweeted “Nigeria will not kill me” via his twitter page (@O_Okee).
He was said to have been hit by the stray bullet at his home on St.Paul Street, Mafoloku, Oshodi area of Lagos State.
A viral social media video shows the moment Oke’s mother held the lifeless body of her son wrapped in Nigeria’s green-white-green flag with blood stains, while she wailed.
Background voices of persons at the scene claimed that the young man was killed “inside a police station” by the police.
As of the time of filing this report, ‘RIP Oke’ was trending at number one position on Twitter as Nigerians took to the social media platform to condemn his murder.
Oke’s girlfriend also took to her Twitter page (@derinmama) to grieve over his death.
She wrote in a series of tweets: “We had forever to go Oke. I’m going to dwell on all our beautiful memories. We had a lot. He cared for all his friends. He always wanted to be there for them. He loved my sisters.
“My Baby, What happened to our Design dream Oke? Tell me I’m actually dreaming and we’re still going to talk tonight. My baby didn’t deserve this.”
