‘Entire World Will Judge You’ — Presidency Slams ‘Yoruba Nation’ For Aligning With Biafra Agitators To Disgrace Buhari At UNGA

Ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s New York visit to participate at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the Presidency has criticised a planned protest against the president at the venue of the event. 

The Presidency specifically frowned at the Yoruba Nation agitators’ alleged decision to join forces with Biafra secessionists to disgrace President Buhari at the UN headquarters. 

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, described the alleged plan as “shocking”, adding that the Yoruba Nation agitators should not be seen in company of the Indeginous People Of Biafra which had been designated as a “terrorist organization” by the Nigerian Government. 

Shehu said this after IPOB and other agitators from the South and the Middle Belt regions reportedly stormed the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday to stage what they called a one-million-man freedom march.

In a statement he issued on Wednesday, Shehu appealed to the media to focus on “core issues as President Buhari goes to the United Nations”. 

He said, “For Nigerian diaspora groups to use the world’s largest platform – the United Nations General Assembly – to garner attention to their causes is not unexpected.

“It was, however shocking, to see “Yoruba Nation” advocates yesterday unequivocally throw their lot in with Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“IPOB is a designated terrorist organisation. It has now publicly revealed a 50,000 strong paramilitary organisation.

“It regularly murders security services and innocent civilians, with a significant uptick of violent attacks this year. And it is currently attempting to hold Nigerian states hostage with orders to stay at home under threat of terror.

“Without doubt, Nigerians and the entire world will judge Yoruba Nation by the company it keeps.

“No one can take seriously this organisation if it continues its IPOB association. When their allies systematically trample human rights, it raises sober questions about their claims to uphold the values of the UN.

“The cooperation is a worrying development, once parsed with Yoruba Nation’s increasingly violent rallies in Nigeria.”

Shehu added that, “Actions and associations speak louder than words. Yoruba Nation’s talk of human rights promotion must therefore be ignored.” 

Meanwhile, the agitators had in a letter addressed to UN said: “We, the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria gather today at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York to alert the UN, and the rest of the Global Community that the Union of Nigeria has failed irredeemably; and is now at the verge of a Violent Disintegration with Catastrophic Consequences for Global Peace, and Security as our population of over 200 million would become an Instant Global Refugee Nightmare.

“Amidst the extraordinary difficulties inflicted by the imposition and enforcement of Sharia by a section of Nigeria in a supposedly Secular Union, the immediate reason for this looming catastrophe is the Cocktail of Mass Killing, Kidnapping and General Banditry being orchestrated against the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria by an invading Fulani Militia masquerading as Herdsmen in an undisguised Ethnic Cleansing Campaign that progressively demonstrate the Complicity of the Federal Government of Nigeria headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, a Fulani man, who as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria is also the Life Grand Patron of the notorious Myetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria; that proudly takes responsibility for the Murderous Exploits of the Fulani Herdsmen Militia designated the Fourth Most Deadly Terror Group.

“An Online Petition conveying the Demands of that Constitutional Force Majeure Proclamation, is currently before the UN Security Council.

“That Nigeria has failed as a State is no longer a Subject for Debate, having emerged the Global Poverty Capital, and Playing Host to Two of the World’s Top Four Most Deadly Terrorists Organisation, with Three-quarters of the Constituent Components (South and Middle-Belt) Seeking Urgent Extrication by Way of Referendums from what has become a Union of Death.”
