Ex-Super Falcons Player, Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine Dies

Former Super Falcons Player, Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine is dead.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF on Thursday, Chiejine died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

Born on May 17, 1983, the striker had 15 goals in 61 games for Nigeria as of 2007.

NFF said, “We are sad to announce the sudden demise of former @NGSuper_Falcons player Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine who passed on after a brief illness on Wednesday, 21st August 2019. Ifeanyi captained the first set of the U19 National Women’s team to the first U19 (Now U20) @FIFAWWC in 2002.”

Chiejine represented Nigeria at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Games among other competitions.

The forward made three world cup appearances in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

She was capped 61 times for the Senior Women’s national team, Super Falcons.

Chiejine is the second ex Falcons player to die in less than a year.

Recall that in November 2018, an ex-Falcons midfielder, Ajuma Otache also died.
