Fuel Tanker Crushes Passenger Buses, Burst Into Flames in Abeokuta

There was pandemonium in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Tuesday morning as a fuel laden tanker lost control, crushed a motorcycle, passenger vehicles and exploded.

Many vehicles were destroyed in the tanker explosion which caused panic in the area.

The incident, it was gathered, occurred around 8:15 am along the Presidential Boulevard Road at Kuto area of the state capital.

The truck which was coming from Sagamu-Siun-Oke-Mosan Road was said to have suffered break failure and lost control while descending a bridge and crushed vehicles afterwards.

The fire which spread to a few offices around the place caused panic as many motorists started making U-turn to avoid being trapped in the inferno.

There was anxiety over the safety of the pupils in a school directly opposite the scene of the explosion.

Men of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps were seen close to the scene controlling the traffic.
